The check, made out to Evoni, was for $16 000 from Texas State University. They were, in fact, offering her a scholarship. Evoni stated that she assisted Adrien because it was the humane thing to do. She did not expect to be rewarded, so when she was given the check, she was tearfully grateful. She had been given enough money to make all of her dreams come true, and then some!

There was genuinely one proud person, and that was Adrien. Evoni’s humanity meant everything to him as his health declined. She had shown him the kind of kindness that he would always remember in this world that is so often negligible of the elderly and the infirm.
