It seems like many of the greatest writers preferred to live solitary lives. Given that this is such a solitary profession, where one must spend long days alone in their work, it is understandable that someone like Harper Lee never ended up marrying. Lee is most famous for her leading American novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. She was an intensely private person, never saying more about herself than she needed to, but the writer’s biographer did reveal that she dated a fair amount of people.

You can bet that serving as the Governor and Attorney General of Arizona, as well as the United States Secretary of Homeland Security would leave little time for a love life. Janet Napolitano would also become the President of the University of California. With this much political involvement and success, it is clear that Napolitano married her career. While some people may struggle to understand how someone can go their life without a significant other, they simply have not become as involved with the world around them as Napolitano has.
