While Tom Petty is the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, his position on this list cannot go without the mention of the group’s lead guitarist, Mike Campbell. Well-known for his ultimately simple guitar playing style, Mike Campbell would avoid using any more notes than what was absolutely necessary.
While Mike was known for simplicity, Tom Petty was remarkable when performing alongside a legendary guitarist. Mike Campbell was responsible for most of Tom Perry’s solos on his solo album Full Moon and they made a memorable impact with songs like “You Got Lucky” and “Breakdown.”

Frank Zappa was born on the 21st of December, 1940 in Maryland. He became a multi-talented musician that developed a knack for playing several different genres, which includes jazz. Additionally, he also produced a total of 60 albums and performed outstanding solos throughout his career as a musician. However, he is probably most well-known for his incredible work collaborating with the Mothers of Invention.
“In-a-Gadda-Stravinsky” and “Willie the Pimp” are just some of his most famous hit songs that featured incredible and legendary Frank Zappa solos. There’s no denying that Frank Zappa pushed the boundaries with his renowned guitar talents.
