September 6, 1996 – Angels at Orioles. Cal Ripken, Jr. is honored by a collection of fans of the Orioles team following Ripken’s beating Lou Gehrig’s record of consecutive games played. As impressed with their hero as the Orioles fans were, they would have plenty more to celebrate in the coming years. But Ripken’s career was far from over, as he continued to play until 1998 with a total of 2,632 matches. This beat the previous record by 502 matches.

Roger Staubach
November 9, 1963 – Annapolis. Indeed, even the navy can achieve greatness on the field! Here we have Roger Staubach of the seamen’s team smiling contently during the official team’s victory against Maryland. We cannot tell if the seamen behind the team are singing or shouting their praise. Either way, Staubach jumped for joy when he saw his boys win as the time was called. There were plenty more victories to be enjoyed by the 60s Navy football team to come!
