Bobby Martin

Weighing in at 112-pounds and measuring three feet, Bobby Martin was the Dayton Colonel White High Backup varsity noseguard that played kickoff and punt coverage. Martin was born free of lower limbs, meaning that he could not fasten prosthetic legs due to his lack of thighs on which to fasten them to. Martin did not allow such a disadvantage to stop him from playing ball, however.

March 8, 1965, at Spring Training. Juan Marichal, the pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, puts his entire body behind a comet pitch throughout a Casa Grande, Arizona training match. Marichal was famous for his unique windup, where he would shoot his leg vertically into the air with what was considered to be one of the major league’s most elevated leg kicks ever. You can bet that putting that much momentum behind any throw would result in a blindingly fastball speed.
