Initially, the role was almost given to Anna Nicole Smith, as some executives believe since Diaz never acted in a film before of that nature. Chuck Russell said the director of the film said he saw her details on the casting desk and asked about her. It was after they saw the chemistry between her and Jim and a few callbacks later that she was finally given the role.
