She was born close to North Myrtle Beach on February 18, 1957, in Horry County, South Carolina. Once White graduated, she migrated to Atlanta, Georgia, and signed up with The Atlanta School of Fashion and Design while also trying modeling out. She ended up taking second place within the 1978 Miss Georgia pageant.
