Shopkeepers Just for Show
Pawn Stars fans have come to expect to find The Old Man, Corey, Chum Lee and Rick in their natural habitat, their shop. The show follows them as they examine antiques and old valuables to possibly purchase. Perhaps this was an accurate view of their lives before the camera crews, but that’s kinda deceptive nowadays.
Shopkeepers Just For Show
The cast and crew are now only present at predetermined times (not that often), and specifically for the purposes of making the show because the filming hinders normal business functioning.
Staged Negotiations
So on American Pickers we already know the collections are pre-picked by producers, so the discovery of the goods is staged. Then what about the selling part? I guess nobody would be surprised to hear that the negotiations are pre-arranged too.

While Mike, Frank and the seller seem to bicker over the price on the show, the end price has already been negotiated between the producers and the seller. The whole negotiation is just an act.
