The Big Doll House was actually filmed in the Philippines, where she contracted a deadly tropical disease, which took her nearly a year to recover from! Pam was also the first black woman to feature on the cover of MS Magazine in August 1975. She has made many movies since then, had a little break and made her comeback in 1997 when she landed the role of Jackie Brown in Quentin Tarantino’s blockbuster film of the same name. Pam was actually diagnosed with cancer in 1988 and given 18 months to live, she changed her lifestyle, and defied expectations and is still with us today and still acting!

Samantha Fox get her first record deal at the young age of 16! But it was only about four years later that she achieved real success when her song Touch Me was number one in the charts in 17 different countries! She has since released 6 further albums, and even appeared on the show Celebrity Big Brother in 2016. The sad news is that her partner, Myra Stratton, died in 2015.

Jane Seymour became a star after her role as Solitaire in Live and Let Die, later becoming the much loved Dr. Quinn in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and had many roles after that. Jane also became the oldest woman to pose for Playboy in 2018, at the age of 67, showing that older ladies can rock it too, while also bringing attention sexual harassment in the film industry in the ’70s during the interview.

In 1969 she landed her first big role with Cactus Flower, where she earned herself an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Since then, she has made many movies and made quite a name for herself in Hollywood. She is still acting today, though she took a break in the early 2000s.

Barbi Benton did a number of photo shoots for Playboy, and shot to fame when she started dating Hugh Hefner, and the two continued dating from 1969 until 1976. She moved onto acting after modeling, appearing on shows like Love Boat, Sugar Time!, and Fantasy Island. Barbi got married in 1979 to George Gradow, a real estate developer, with whom she had two children. Barbi’s last public appearance was in 2014.

Linda Grey began her career in the 1960s doing television commercials until she landed the role of Sue Ewing on Dallas in 1978, which she stayed with until 1989, and which earned her numerous nominations for various awards in the industry. Kim Basinger started out as a model, offered a contract on the spot by Ford Models, and became a top model during the 1970’s – by the time she was 20 she was earning $1000 a day! To follow in Tonya’s lauded footsteps we have Nancy Kerrigan, another phenomenally talented skater. Sadly, Kerrigan’s career would be steeped with misfortune. As previously discussed, in 1994 she suffered a debilitating injury at the hands of a clumsy athlete. This would not stop her from winning, however, as she speedily made it back to the arena. Little over a month following her accident, Kerrigan triumphantly returned to the podium during the 1994 Winter Olympics to claim her silver medal.

Tina Louise has appeared in a number of film and television projects, but is most well-known for her portrayal of the character Ginger Grant in US sitcom Gilligan’s Island. What you might not know is that Tina Louise actually burst onto the entertainment scene through her Broadway performances, and more interestingly, although she has taken a step back from acting, she is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well as a lifetime member of the Actors Studio. Louise has also published a number of books, including children’s books. She is a literacy and academic advocate, and volunteers as a tutor for New York City children with a non-profit organization, Learning Leaders, stating that when young students gain literary skills they gain a whole lot more too, such as “confidence, self-determination, and proof of their own potential”. What an inspirational woman!

Barbara Eden is most well-known for her title role in the NBC sitcom I Dream of Jeannie, which ran for five years, and saw her quickly leap up the ladder of fame. People Magazine ranked Eden as “One of America’s 200 Greatest Pop Icons of the 20th Century”. Eden has starred in numerous films and television shows over the years, in 2011 she released her best-selling memoir The Jeannie out of the Bottle, and is now enjoying her retirement.

Do you remember pop hits from the 70s such as “I Don’t Want to Be Right” and “Sleeping Single in a Double Bed”? Well, these were written and performed by Barbara Mandrell, who would go on to establish a television special called Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters. The TV special lasted a whole two impressive seasons. Many years later, the siblings would host the Unleashed Fundraiser.

Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2002, and mostly retired from performing since 2007, but now serves as the National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Morgan Fairchild was actually born Patsy Ann McClenny. Between 1973 and 1977 she played Jennifer Pace on Search for Tomorrow, which is what really brought Morgan Fairchild into the spotlight. After that she had roles in Dallas, Kojak, and Happy Days, but she really got her next big role in the 80s when she played Constance Weldon Semple Carlyle on Flamingo Road. She even appeared on Days of Our Lives recently and is still acting today.

In 1987 she was introduced to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and was also the first prominent athlete to come out as gay in 1981.

Another Dallas star is Charlene Tilton, who played Lucy Ewing on the show. After Dallas, Charlene continued to do some acting as well as singing, releasing the pop single ‘C’est La Vie’ in 1984, which went on to become a hit in many European contries. Tilton is a prominent advocate for autism awareness and is currently the ambassador for Actors with Autism. The organization leads improvisation and acting workshops for children and adults with autism.

Raised on a farm in South Africa, Charlize Theron was just 15 years old when her mother killed her alcoholic father in the name of self-defense after he threatened to kill both mother and daughter. She originally went to New York for a three-day modeling stint and stayed to train as a ballet dancer until an injury forced her to quit. She soon caught the eye of talent-agents and started with some small acting roles, and was soon being offered lots of “hot-chick” parts but turned them down. This was the beginning of 50 years of stardom for Gardner. Her heavy smoking habit eventually caught up with her in the 1980s, and in 1986 she suffered from emphysema and a stroke that left her paralyzed, and in 1990 she contracted pneumonia which led to her death.

Hedy Lamarr is another example of a beautiful woman who is truly fascinating for reasons way beyond her outer beauty! During WWII she started working on “frequency hopping”, a technique used to stop radio signal jamming that sabotaged the ability of submarines to control torpedoes. English actress Jacqueline Bisset appeared in numerous films since the 1960s. She appeared in a number of Hollywood Blockbusters such as Bullitt and Day and Night, and really made her mark in many people’s memories with her iconic wet t-shirt scene in the 1977 film The Deep.

Kim Novak was actually recruited by Colombia Pictures to initially replace Rita Heyworth who had suffered a decline in popularity during the 1950s, as well as to compete with 20th Century Fox’s Marilyn Monroe.
