Tina Louise has appeared in a number of film and television projects, but is most well-known for her portrayal of the character Ginger Grant in US sitcom Gilligan’s Island. What you might not know is that Tina Louise actually burst onto the entertainment scene through her Broadway performances, and more interestingly, although she has taken a step back from acting, she is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well as a lifetime member of the Actors Studio. Louise has also published a number of books, including children’s books. She is a literacy and academic advocate, and volunteers as a tutor for New York City children with a non-profit organization, Learning Leaders, stating that when young students gain literary skills they gain a whole lot more too, such as “confidence, self-determination, and proof of their own potential”.
