Now that she is a veteran, the U.S Marines will always hold a special place in Shannon’s heart. Acting as a spokesmodel, she takes a lot of pride in working with military charities to keep up with the former part of herself, as well as to do her duty to try and encourage others to enlist. She also still works closely with the Chicago Marine Corps Foundation, which supports providing scholarships to kids who have lost their parents through military service. It’s clear that Shannon likes seeing the bigger picture, wanting to help out beyond just her modeling appearances.

As an result of her small town upbringing, Shannon will always be somewhat low-key in how she leads her personal life. Aside from her modelling work, she continues to work as a horse trainer too, as an ode to her Minnesotan roots. In recent interviews, she has mentioned that she has about six horses at the moment, which she is preparing for roping competitions. Aside from horses being a lifelong passion for her, the training also helps her keep in shape for any upcoming modelling contracts that require her to be in tip-top condition.
