Dick Butkus

September 28, 1969 – St. Louis. Dick Butkus, the linebacker for the Chicago Bears, leaps into the fray with a fearsome expression. You don’t get called “The Most Feared Man in the Game” by Sports Illustrated for no reason. Whichever Cardinals members were on the other side of this vicious tackle probably crumbled quickly. Butkus would receive the defensive player of the year title from the NEA NFL after the conclusion of a highly successful 1969 season

Carl Lewis

August 8, 1992 – Summer Olympics. Carl Lewis throws his arms ecstatically in the air as he takes the gold medal and breaks the 4×100-meter relay world record. It only took Lewis 8.85 seconds to dash through his final leg, a record which would not be beaten until 2007 when another athlete overcame Lewis’s anchor leg achievement. Breaking any sporting record is a rare occurrence, and whenever an athlete manages to do just that, you can be sure that there will be an incredible cause to celebrate.
