Mindy Cohn played Natalie on The Facts of Life for its’ entire run between 1979-1988, and continued to act after that, as well as becoming a voice actress, doing the voice of Velma for the Scooby Doo franchise. She is a well-known advocate for LGBT rights, and has stated that she is proud to be a “fag hag”. Her part as the brainy Velma in The Mystery Machine crew was one of the first feminist cartoon characters ever.
