Lola Falana

Lola Falana rose to fame with her multi-talents in acting, dancing, and singing, and with some help from Dinah Washington and Sammy Davis Jr. Lola was actually born in New Jersey and grew up in Philadelphia but actually made her break into stardom in Italy, where she became a pretty big name in Italian cinema. She got her American film debut with The Liberation of L.B. Jones in 1970, and later earned herself the nickname “Queen of Las Vegas” when she had a dance show there. Sadly, in 1987 Lola was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and stopped acting and performing in 1989, although she did do a stage appearance for a local theater in Branson, Missouri in 1997. Lola now spends a lot of her time working with the church group she founded, and a charity that helps children in Africa called Save Sub-Saharan Orphans.
