As the waters of the Falls receded, the thought of discovering anything gruesome like skeletons was far from the minds of engineers and visitors alike. However, as fate would have it, there were indeed bones lying along the bed of the falls.

Who did they belong to? No one was sure at the time. It was not clear whether they belonged to humans or large animals who had fallen into the river, but either way, it was better there were fewer tourists so as not to cause another blow to the tourism industry.
