Annie Edson Taylor was a struggling teacher who loved the Niagara Falls as well as adventure, but more importantly, she needed money and was sponsored to do something a little crazy, if you ask us. The 63-year-old at the time-strapped herself in a wooden barrel after instructing onlookers to throw her in the river.
