The irony of this one is that, in ancient times, people did derive their surnames from their trades, such as the surname “Smith” being assigned to blacksmiths. This particular man, however, is obviously carrying on his forefather’s occupation to the tee. Or, maybe his name is “Europe Correspondent”, working as a correspondent for Matthews.
