As it turns out, all of the trips to Denver had been to see Eric, in a bid to get closer to him once again. Mark wanted to explore building the relationship first, before dragging his beloved wife and children into the situation. He was trying to play it as cool as possible, but didn’t realize that his distance wouldn’t go unnoticed by his wife of nearly a decade. He was relieved that the truth could finally be revealed.

Because Eric was getting back on track with his own life, he was able to pay Mark back very quickly. The money was returned to Sara’s account as well. Eric had found a stable job in Denver, which meant that he was able to provide for his family too. Just like Mark needed Sara and their beautiful children, so Eric also needed someone to love in his life, along with a family unit that could be with him through thick and thin.
