Kendall Roy Was Nearly Played By Jeremy Strong In Succession
Jeremy Strong is a well-regarded actor, who tried out for the part of Roman Roy for Succession, delivering a strong performance. Then again, co-creator Jesse Armstrong had the part of Roman in mind for Strong, but Kieren Culkin ended up taking it. Armstrong was so taken with Culkin’s audition that he knew that they had found the perfect man for the part of Roman. Strong then ended up with Kendall Roy as his role in Succession.
The Affair Squeezed In A Part For Colin Donnell
When Colin Donnell walked into The Affair’s auditions, he was aiming to win the part of Cole Lockhart. Joshua Jackson might have ended up sealing the deal for that character, but Donnell was the runner-up. Sarah Treem believed that Donnell just wasn’t the correct fit for the character. But Donnell would not lose favor with Treem, who would end up writing Scotty Lockhart’s character for the actor. Although Donnell did not get the part that he wanted, playing the brother was a good compromise.
