Our next story began when a certain chimpanzee attempted to flee the US’s Missouri Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The guards had no choice but to put the poor female chimp down, leaving her three days old son orphaned. Thankfully, a kind and patient human couple was happy to take the baby monkey in. Jerome and Sandra Herold would be his new and loving parents, and they would name their new “son” Travis. It didn’t take Travis long to become part of the family.
