Like A Son
Travis soon became like a son to the Herolds, who quickly came to love the friendly chimp as they loved him. The people of Stamford, Connecticut, where this unusual family lived, often saw Travis out and about with his human parents. He would also accompany the Herolds to their towing business, where Travis would have his picture taken while riding in a tow truck. It didn’t take long for Travis to become a local celebrity.

Travis would not only be appreciated by ordinary townsfolks, but also the police, who would often play with him. All in all, Travis was an incredibly affectionate, gentle, and playful animal, despite being a wild chimp at heart. He knew how to unlock doors with keys, dress himself, and would even eat at the Herolds’ table as a human would. Travis also memorized the local ice cream trucks’ schedules and would excitedly run out whenever they passed by his home. Eventually, Travis would prove himself to be even more humanlike than you could imagine.
