Forbidden Feelings
The unusual woman’s adoration for the chimp did not just blossom overnight, however. Adie Timmermans had been visiting the chimp for a period of four years. Her romantic feelings must have slowly developed over time, to the point that she could no longer deny nor hide what was in her heart. When it comes to matters of the heart, people often struggle to disguise their true intentions. Timmermans then began visibly displaying her infatuation for Chita, much to the zoo employees’ horror.

Interspecies Friendship
Most people will never know what it’s like to forge a bond with a chimpanzee unless they work directly with wild animals. Certainly, zookeepers, game rangers, and wildlife conservationists will often work with wild animals like Chita, and forge strong friendships with the creatures. As for ordinary members of the public, however, they will generally be limited to watching wild animals from afar from the safety of zoo walkways. Timmermans, on the other hand, would end up getting as close as possible to this animal.
