As you can see from the picture, the only thing separating Adie and Chita was a surprisingly thin sheet of glass. Of course, the two never touched, but they were visibly flirtatious and almost intimate with one another. Eventually, Timmermans was visiting Chita weekly for a period of four years. The two would reportedly exchange sentimental gestures, blowing kisses and waving to one another across the barrier of Chita’s enclosure. Thankfully, the two never came into proper physical contact. Not that there wouldn’t be consequences, however.

While Chita and Timmermans’s time together might have seemed sweet to some, the fact that Timmermans claimed that the two were in a proper “relationship” made things sinister. You see, this bond went far beyond friendship, at least in Timmermans’s mind. What this woman wanted was more than what was naturally safe or decent. Of course, no one can say whether Chita was reciprocating Timmermans’s feelings or not. Regardless, the woman with the bright red hair said, “I love that animal and he loves me.” It was clearly time for to separate the two.
