A Challenging Economic Climate
Studying towards a degree is time-consuming enough, but working a side job, which is all the norm for most students these days, gives you even less time to get to everything you need to in a given day. The process was even more difficult in a recession, which Shannon encountered first hand after finding out that her manager at the clothing store she worked at actually had a law degree. This got her to think about what life after university might be like, and she worried that she wouldn’t be able to pay off her student loans by entering the “normal” job market like everybody else.
Advice From The College Counselor
The thought of leaving university with no job and a stack of debt scared Shannon a lot, and she knew that she should talk to someone about it to get a bit of advice on what she could do. The college counselor told her that two people get to go to college for free: single moms and those in the military. Realising that she only had one of those two options, she decided that she’d take some time to learn more about the military, and planned on going to a recruiting fair to see if it made sense for her to enlist.
