#16 George Harrison
George Harrison was born in 1943 on the 25th of February in Liverpool, England. Harrison is the second member of the Beatles with a spot on this list and he has been considered the third-best icons of all time, right behind legends Paul McCartney and John Lennon. However, when he started his solo career, he outgrew that title for some time.
George Harrison wrote the songs “Here Comes The Sun” and “Taxman.” However, every album that was released after 1965 featured a minimum of two tracks that were written by George. Tom Petty made an encouraging comment on Goerge Harrison’s guitar playing in saying that, “He was very in tune when he played, the slide was very precise, and just had a beautiful vibrato on it.” Needless to say, George Harrison’s incredible talents as a guitarist are nothing other than iconic.
#15 Albert King
Albert Nelson, or Albert King, was born in 1923 on the 25th of April in Indianola, Mississippi. In 1968, Albert King reportedly said that he had no musical inspirations as “Everything I do is wrong.” The left-handed guitarist that oddly enough opted for a right-handed guitar is quite well-known as “The Velvet Bulldozer,” thanks to his incredibly large size and his charmingly smooth vocals.
He was able to use a right-handed guitar because he would play it upside down. If that’s not impressive enough, he bewildered Jimi Hendrix in 1967 during an opening performance for Hendrix. Both Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton were huge fans of The Velvet Bulldozer and some of his most incredible songs include “As The Years Go Passing By” and “Born Under a Bad Sign.”
