Goodfellas
Martin Scorsese, renowned writer and filmmaker, scooped up investigative journalist Nicholas Pileggi’s bestseller Wiseguy, which was a non-fiction bestseller about the story of a member of the dangerous Mafia world who then became an informer and snitched on the various crime families.
The filmmaker and the author collaborated on the script, which was based heavily on Pileggi’s investigative journalism. Because of the amount of investigation and research the author has done concerning the topic, Scorsese the filmmaker was able to have a clear picture of the story and was very successful in making it a truthful representation.
Joyeux Noel
The French movie Joyeux Noel depicts the Christmas ceasefire during WWI from the perspectives of the forces from both sides of the fighting parties. It’s a moving documentary about an unofficial ceasefire on a major war to show respect for the holidays which both countries have accustomed to celebrating.
The narrative may seem unbelievable, yet it is really true. Although the movie’s characters are fictitious, the rest of the story is true. To show even deeper respect to the countries represented, the movie is produced in three different languages, each for the country represented.
