Come And See
Contrary to popular belief, war is definitely not a spectacular or well-organized endeavor; it is a harsh and nasty affair that affects millions of lives. This movie depicts that experience, giving viewers a peek inside the horrible truths of WWII as presented through the perspective of a Belarus civilian whose community became collateral damage in a war they did not want to be involved in the first place.
Russian filmmaker, Elem Klimov, felt it was crucial to tell the genuine tale of Russia’s role in WWII. Many critics and scholars were amazed at the courage that this filmmaker showed by standing for transparency rather than romanticizing his own country.
Munich
The movie “Munich,” filmed by filmmaker Steven Spielberg but also adapted from the bestseller Vengeance, portrays the narrative of Israel’s undercover reprisal against the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in reaction to the bloody Munich tragedy at the Olympic event held in Germany.
Spielberg ventured to portray the kidnapping and murder of Israeli sportsmen as realistically true as possible and the movie includes actual media footage filmed during the incident itself. Many who saw the movie were astonished by the representation of the movie and how it captured the essence of the moment right there and then.
