March 4, 2001 – Chapel Hill, N.C. Duke’s Casey Sanders desperately attempts to match Julius Peppers of North Carolina’s elevation at a particularly spectacular and dramatic confrontation at the Dean. E. Smith Center. These two athletes look more like ballerinas performing one phenomenal acrobatic stunt. This must be one of the more fantastic confrontations that we have seen on a basketball court, where No.4 North Carolina eventually lost to No. 2 Duke 95-81. We must give our praise to the photographer that captured this moment!

September 29, 1988, at the Summer Olympics. Jackie Joyner-Kersee, the four-time gold medalist, flies through 7.40 meters at Seoul, Korea’s momentous Olympics, breaking the record distance for the time. Joyner-Kersee would not walk away untainted by this stunning achievement, however, as allegations of performance-enhancing drug use surrounded her. Regardless of the finger-pointing, Joyner-Kersee’s related tests never revealed any trace of such substances. When you perform at a superhuman level, you can be sure that the hate will flow in.
