28. The Shining – “Here’s Johnny.”
Jack Nicholson’s performance in Stanley Kubrick’s film, The Shining, Jack Nicholson’s performance was amazing and one of his best performances throughout his career. During the film, he even made a great improvisation that went smoothly with the film. Interestingly, during the film where he was on a mission to get to his wife and broke down a door with an ax, he pushed through with the line, “Here’s Johnny.” This line was about The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Kubrick, a Brit, somehow didn’t understand what was going on, and the line almost got dropped from the final cut. The film was a pretty hard one to get through as it went over three days and knocked down around 60 doors.
27. The Godfather – “Take The Cannoli.”
This award-winning film saw actor Richard S. Castellano playing the role of Clemenza, not sticking to the script while Rocco was shooting Paulie while he was in a car. His wife, Ardell Sheridan (both onscreen and offscreen), suggested that he cut a particular scene out and replace it with another. It somehow fit in well and was only revealed in an interview done years later. The Godfather itself was a great film, and the line was one of the most iconic unscripted lines from the movie.
