Cicely Tyson is most well-known for her screen and stage performances portraying the lives of African-American women. You might not know this, but she was also a fashion model back in the day! In 2011, Tyson gave a stunning and award-winning performance as Constantine Bates in the movie The Help, and has been nominated for, and won, a number of awards for her striking and talented performances, continuing to perform to this day. Tyson doesn’t take just any role offered, maintaining her loyalty to portraying strong positive images of Black women, making her a most definite admirable entertainer and performer.

You might not know this, but Betty White began her career with radio gigs in the 1940s. Apparently, she began in radio because the movie execs of the time decided she wasn’t photogenic enough to feature in their projects. Seems hard to believe, but apparently it’s true. Today, though, she holds the special spot of the longest-running career of any female entertainer on television! So take that, movie execs of narrow vision! Although her fans are concerned about her looking after herself and her health, Betty White is showing no signs of any intention to retire any time soon, staying focused on her performance in various ongoing projects.
