Unable To Pay
As she swiped her card, a message popped up stating “insufficient funds”. Sara looked sheepishly at the cashier, asking her if she could try again. A couple of attempts later, it became clear that her bank account did not have enough money to pay for the groceries. Mortified, Sara didn’t know what to do. Did this have something to do with the bank, or was Mark somehow involved? Her mind raced to all the different possibilities.

Rather than assuming it was her husband’s doing, Sara called the bank first to ask what was going on. Perhaps she had been the victim of the scan. A quick look through her statement revealed that Mark had withdrawn the full balance of the account that very morning. A sense of dread washed over Sara, who knew that this couldn’t be good news. She knew right then and there that her life was going to change that day.
