The Investment Opportunity
Mark’s explanation raised a couple of red flags right away. As he was on a business trip, he had to give Sara all the details on the phone. He said that he had been given a great investment opportunity overnight, and needed cash to be able to secure his place. He told Sara that he was going to talk to her about it, but simply didn’t have time. He had to act fast in order to make a good return for the sake of his family.

Needless to say, Sara thought that Mark was acting strange. She was upset that he didn’t talk to her about the investment first, as this had led to a complication when she tried to pay for her groceries that day. Mark said that he had moved some of their savings into her spending account, to make sure she didn’t run into any trouble. It hadn’t reflected yet, as the accounts were from different banks and transfers usually took a day or two to show up.
