Setting a Bad Example
Mark’s parents were apparently also prone to getting themselves in trouble. Mostly, this was through wheeling and dealing and running into the law at every corner. At a young age, Mark had decided to distance himself from them completely, cutting them out as if they never existed. This was his way of trying to stay a good person, without having to worry about the shadow his family cast over him and his efforts to build a life of his own.

In recent years, Eric had done some time in jail for the various schemes he was involved in. Mark had heard about it, but wanted nothing to do with it. He had even been asked to bail his brother out of jail, which he didn’t believe was his responsibility to do. Eric had to learn his lessons the hard way, just like everyone else in the world. Sometimes, it’s best to leave people to figure out their problems on their own.
