It was debated even though Madonna famously resolved the hypothetical issue by signing a card disk for Quentin Tarantino with the message that states the song is about love and not d**k. Harder To Breathe

It might appear that the first track from Maroon 5’s debut record entitled, Songs About Jane, appears to be simply another song talking about Jane, a former lover with whom the lead vocalist Adam Levine shared a turbulent relationship at the time of its release. However, while the title of the album’s first song, “Harder to Breathe,” suggest that Levine was inspired by the ex-lover who was said to be Levine’s inspiration, but the song was really inspired by another type of oppressive affair. The song serves to be a stinging indictment of the pressures that exist in the music industry.
