Like A Virgin
Reservoir Dogs opens with a misinterpretation of Madonna’s huge single, “Like a Virgin,” on the part of both Mr. Brown (believing it to be a figurative language for big d**ks) and Mr. Blonde (who believes it to be about a woman who’s extremely fragile). It was debated even though Madonna famously resolved the hypothetical issue by signing a card disk for Quentin Tarantino with the message that states the song is about love and not d**k. The debate continues today.
Harder To Breathe
It might appear that the first track from Maroon 5’s debut record entitled, Songs About Jane, appears to be simply another song talking about Jane, a former lover with whom the lead vocalist Adam Levine shared a turbulent relationship at the time of its release. However, while the title of the album’s first song, “Harder to Breathe,” suggest that Levine was inspired by the ex-lover who was said to be Levine’s inspiration, but the song was really inspired by another type of oppressive affair. The song serves to be a stinging indictment of the pressures that exist in the music industry.
