Booze for Days
By now, you should be aware that André had a trash can-sized appetite for alcohol. In a tour of Texas, an inexperienced wrestler called Ted DiBiase was tasked with keeping André entertained, so they hit the bar. André allegedly asked for a big trash can when the waitress came around, wanting it to be filled with beer and ice. Stares aside, she did it anyway, and two or three cases later the night was history.
A Tale Fit For Comics
Even though he has been gone for a long time, the public still keeps their interest for him alive. Two graphic novels, André The Giant: Closer To Heaven by Brandon Easton, and André the Giant: Life and Legend (Box Brown) were first published in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
Brown’s novel was the vehicle for a story as strange and epic as André’s life. He tried to be careful before writing the story, putting himself in André’s shoes temporarily, to give a more realistic account of his life, struggles and all the successes that followed.
