Joy didn’t so much miss her flight as much as, she couldn’t get on her flight. The ground handling, who was supposed to assist her, was experiencing some big problems. She was then told that she would have to wait before she would get her luggage and walking aid back.

The standard procedure for when a passenger does not get onto a plane is to also not load their luggage. Somehow the baggage handlers missed her suitcase and walker, and it went off to Bordeaux for a visit with the family while Ms. Burton stayed at the airport.
