Finding Her Own Success
Kate stepped out of her parents’ limelight in hopes of being able to establish her career on her own. She took on several small roles and eventually managed to land a breakthrough role in the film Almost Famous when she 21. She was then nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Penny Lane, who was a groupie for the band Stillwater in the film. She played this part fantastically.

While many children battle to accept their step-parents, Kate was definitely not one of them as she welcomed Kurt as her step-father with open arms and the pair are incredibly close. She views Kurt as a valued father figure, meanwhile, her relationship with her biological father is strained. But Kate says she doesn’t mind because she has a dad, and for her, that is Kurt! However, it is not so hard to imagine why Kate views Kurt as her father considering he has been there for her ever since she was just 18 months old!
