Entering a Modelling Competition
When popular men’s magazine Maxim held a contest to find “Hometown Hotties”, Shannon decided she should try her hand to see if she could get any valuable feedback to further herself in the field. She was chosen to be a part of the competition Top 10, and flown to Las Vegas for a shoot. As soon as the production team learned that she was part of the military, they booked her for a second shoot. Little did she know at that time that she would eventually be crowned the overall winner of the competition.
A Flirty Salute?
While her Maxim cover was certainly a hit with her colleagues, a lot of them questioned what they called an irregular salute on the photo’s. She explained that the photographers wanted her to be more “flirty”, so they changed it from the conventional one. She was a little uncomfortable doing so and knew she would face a bit of backlash, but at the time she was only happy to have landed an opportunity to do a cover shoot for one of the biggest magazines in the country.
