Making A Difference In The World
While initially having her doubts about enlisting in the Marines, after a couple of years of proving to herself that she had the discipline, skills and tenacity to do so, and having been promoted to sergeant, Shannon knew that this was one of the best decisions she had made in her entire life. She often recalls that people spend their lifetimes wondering if they made a difference in the world. For Marines, this is a given. Shannon felt that she was destined to bring about change in the world, which led to a somewhat surprising decision about her next career move, which was right around the corner.
Starting a New Side Hustle
Roughly around the same time that she was promoted to sergeant, Shannon decided to try her hand at some modeling on the side. Attending photo shoots while she was still on active duty required getting clearance and meant she was only allowed to do so over the weekend. This was a career move she had always thought about, and once she did a couple of test shots and got feedback from agencies, she realized that it may become a viable side hustle for her. Before she could turn it into a full-time career however, she had to give it some time to see if it would be practical to pursue in the long run.
