Having signed up to join the U.S Marine Corps, Shannon soon found herself traveling to South Carolina to take part in boot camp. Over the next 90 days, she trained in a variety of fields, including rifle training, mixed martial arts, and more. She would later call this the toughest experience of her life, pushing her both physically and mentally like she could have never imagined. This was not a deterrent, however, and she wanted to prove to everyone, including herself, that she was able to take on such a hard task and get through it anyway.

As it turns out, he was using a technique to encourage her to take on the challenge, which clearly worked.
