Sara had been keen to learn more on many occasions, but could never get Mark to tell her the truth about where he came from. He was adamant that he doesn’t have any family, and that it hurt too much to keep having to talk about it. Sara knew that this was the kind of thing that was going to cause big problems between them later down the line, and as things turned out, this was 100% the case.

After so much back and forth about it, Sara made the decision not to press Mark any further about his situation. This, in a bid to keep things calm ahead of them making a bigger commitment to each other. She convinced herself that if the fact that he was secretive was one of his very few flaws, she could put up with it in the same way he had to put up with her stubbornness. A compromise was part of a loving relationship, after all.
